Landmand Golf Club is the product of a remarkable Andersen family story rooted in farming, Danish heritage, and a bold vision for the rugged Loess Hills of northeastern Nebraska. The family had worked the region for generations, but the dramatic land that became Landmand was too difficult for dependable farming. Will Andersen saw something different and imagined a golf course large enough to match the property’s extraordinary scale. The name Landmand, meaning farmer in Danish, honors the family and the land that made the project possible. That vision began taking shape through The Old Dane, the family’s original nine-hole golf property. Will’s experience there inspired him to pursue a new course from the ground up, eventually partnering with Rob Collins and Tad King to create Landmand. Opened in 2022, the course earned Golf Digest’s Best New Public Course award and is now ranked No. 24 among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, No. 3 in Nebraska, and No. 155 in America’s Second 100 Greatest Courses. The story now comes full circle at The Old Dane, which is being reimagined under Trevor Dormer. Dormer helped shape Landmand during its construction and later joined Rob Collins and Tad King as the third partner in King Collins Dormer Golf Course Design.
